First Bow Buck 2010
In the end, I’m very thankful to have this deer – the meat will go to good use, and my kids are very proud of their daddy – all of which are worthy reasons to enjoy this great sport!
Rut Madness!
This has to be one of the most exciting hunts I’ve been on in a long time! The vid pretty much says it all!
Great Buck Down!
He had saw a smaller buck chasing some does early and it wasn’t long before another doe came through with this bruiser on her trail. He shot this buck at 25 yrds and had an easy recovery.
Big Boy Caught on Camera!
This is a great Missouri buck – this warm weather might be putting a damper on the hunting spirits, but these pics should pull you right back into the big buck fever!
1st Deer of 2010
They are all over the acorns right now. The best advice I can give you for now is to find a grove of oaks and get ready!
Where Would You Hunt? (If you had to pick one ;-)
I moved to southwest Missouri a few years ago, so I was starting from scratch on finding private hunting ground. You can drive around, but with gas prices and being unfamiliar with the area, that just didn’t seem extremely practical. So I decided to check out my area from a bird’s eye view. I simply got onto google earth and within no time I had picked 6-7 properties that looked like great deer/turkey habitat.

They’ll all learn someday that bow hunting is not a sport of instant gratification, but when that gratification does come, it’s all the sweeter!
Find a Nut – Find a Deer!
The deer are sort of in that pre-rut funk. They’re sort of in that in-between stage where they’re not chasing, but they’re not in their early season patterns either. This can be a frustrating time of year as you can hunt a stand and see nothing and go back the next evening and see 10, you just never know.
